PERMANENT MAKEUP (PMU)

This is a modern cosmetic procedure, widely popular around the world, also referred to as permanent makeup or micropigmentation. The primary advantage of the procedure is its natural appearance.
During micropigmentation, pigments are precisely implanted into the epidermal layer of the skin using specialized equipment. It is a professional and accurate procedure performed with safe, high-quality tools.
The longevity of the results depends on various factors, including the selected pigment color, the individual’s lifestyle, skin type and regeneration, as well as external and internal influences (e.g., sun exposure, use of cosmetics, and medications). Typically, permanent makeup lasts between 1.5 to 4 years. To maintain optimal results, a follow-up procedure may be required.
Immediately after the procedure, the color may appear more intense. The healing process takes approximately 4 to 6 weeks, after which the final result is visible. If necessary, a touch-up can be performed following the healing period to perfect the outcome.

What is it?

The objective of permanent makeup is to enhance facial features, creating the appearance of a naturally polished look or to conceal imperfections such as scars, sparse hair growth, or other cosmetic concerns. This technique is most commonly used to define the eyes, eyebrows, and lips. It is well-known that properly shaped, defined, and well-groomed eyebrows can beautifully frame the face and accentuate its features.
However, not everyone is naturally endowed with full, thick eyebrows, leading many individuals to seek alternatives. Some may turn to daily cosmetic products, while others opt for micropigmentation, which provides a significantly longer-lasting result.
Permanent makeup offers a reliable, all-day appearance, unaffected by conditions such as exercise, swimming, saunas, or even upon waking up in the morning.
High-quality permanent makeup offers the opportunity to naturally enhance your appearance or create a bolder, eye-catching look tailored to individual needs. A professional specialist can design an aesthetically pleasing and tasteful beauty that doesn’t require multiple touch-ups throughout the day, won’t wash off in the pool, won’t smudge during meals, and won’t melt away in the heat, allowing you to feel confident in any situation.

An interesting fact is that micropigmentation was originally invented and used not to enhance women’s beauty, but to conceal more serious cosmetic imperfections caused by certain medical conditions. For example, during cancer treatments like chemotherapy, when eyelashes and eyebrow hairs fall out. It was only later that this technique gradually became established as a beauty service, and its popularity continues to grow each day.
Procedure Duration
Eyebrow, lip, and eyelid procedures typically take about 1.5 to 2 hours.
Procedure Steps:
• Consultation: During the consultation, the makeup design, style, and techniques to be used are discussed. The client’s health condition is reviewed, and the healing process of the skin after micropigmentation and the post-procedure care are explained.
• Form Completion: The client fills out a form/permanent makeup contract/consent form, which will include all information related to the procedure, details on the pigment shades used, skin reactions, and other relevant information.
• Sketching: The makeup design is drawn on the client’s skin with a pencil, along with all necessary explanations. This is a collaborative stage between the artist and the client. The procedure is only performed once the client agrees with the drawn design.
• Color Selection: (Within 7-10 days, the color will lighten by 30-50%).
• Procedure Execution: Only after all the previous steps are completed without any issues does the actual procedure begin.
• Correction Discussion: A touch-up can be discussed and performed no sooner than 3 weeks and no later than 3 months after the procedure.

Micropigmentation effectively addresses the following concerns:

• It is an ideal solution for individuals with sparse, light, asymmetrical, or missing eyebrows. The proper eyebrow shape can enhance facial symmetry and highlight facial features.

• Eye contouring can be refined through lash line enhancement or a subtle winged liner, ensuring a balanced, harmonious look that emphasizes strengths and diminishes imperfections.

• Lip color can be enhanced, shape corrected, asymmetry eliminated, and even lip volume can be visually increased for a fuller appearance.

• For those who have limited time in the mornings but still wish to maintain a flawless appearance, permanent makeup can save an estimated 30 minutes daily, according to experts.

• Suitable for individuals with allergies to conventional cosmetics.

• For clients with impaired vision (myopia), applying eye makeup can be time-consuming and frustrating. Poor vision often results in uneven or overly bold makeup application. Permanent makeup provides a long-lasting solution, eliminating this challenge altogether.

Permanent makeup options offered:

BROWS

OMBRE – This technique involves a gradient transition of color, either vertically or horizontally, creating a 3D effect where the eyebrows appear less framed and the eyes more expressive. The result mimics softly shaded eyebrows, with the front part left lighter. Ombre is typically applied to all modern eyebrow techniques.

SHADING – A method of eyebrow micropigmentation where the eyebrows appear lightly enhanced with a shadowed effect.

EXCLUSIVE POWDER BROWS – Our latest and most popular powder eyebrow technique. This method imitates the natural growth characteristics of eyebrow hair. It is especially suitable for creating fuller brows, with a more natural and softer effect in the front and upper areas. Once healed, the effect can look very aesthetic and light. Other methods do not achieve such a natural appearance.

HAIRSTROKES – A technique that creates the appearance of natural hair strokes.

LIPS

AQUARELLE – During micropigmentation, various intensities of color can be selected to give the lips a beautiful shape and a soft or completely natural color, as well as achieve effects such as 3D and more.

EXCLUSIVE NUDE LIPS – Our top client-favorite lip technique, where once healed, it’s hard for others to figure out why the lips always look so perfect. The color is selected individually by custom mixing several shades.

LIPSTICK EFFECT – A well-defined lip contour with fully filled-in lips. This technique can adjust the lip shape and restore its clear definition. Typically, several touch-ups are needed to achieve the most intense effect.

EYES

Upper Eyelid – This ranges from the subtle lash-enhancing INTERLASH effect, which creates a natural look and is suitable for everyone, to CLASSIC LINER or SHADING techniques.

Top Questions

A common question, especially for first-time clients, is whether the procedure is painful. However, there is no single answer. It depends on each individual’s body, as everyone tolerates this unfamiliar sensation differently. If you are more sensitive, there is no need to avoid the procedure, as the specialist can apply a numbing cream to alleviate discomfort. During the procedure, some clients may experience sensations of discomfort, such as watery eyes, sneezing, pain, or a burning or stinging sensation. The degree of these sensations depends on the individual’s nervous system. In the experience of professionals using modern equipment, it is rare for a client to experience significant pain. More commonly, clients may even fall asleep during the procedure. Therefore, the procedure is generally more pleasant than painful.

When using modern, medically approved high-quality pigments and selecting the appropriate shade, the color will gradually and evenly fade over time without developing any unwanted tones.

The longevity of the procedure depends on factors such as skin type, age, skin regeneration speed, lifestyle, external and internal influences (cosmetic products, sun exposure, chemical agents, etc.), as well as the chosen effect or pigment color/concentration. Permanent makeup typically lasts longer in the lip and eyelid areas compared to the eyebrow area. On average, it is recommended to refresh the procedure after 1 year.

Everyone’s skin is different, and it is difficult to predict exactly how the skin will absorb the pigment once it has fully healed, as the pigment is considered a foreign substance.

A touch-up is an essential second part of the procedure and is typically performed after 1 month, but no later than 3 months, to achieve the best result and ensure long-lasting satisfaction.

However, there are exceptions where a touch-up may not be needed. After healing, it is important to visit your specialist, who will assess and evaluate the results.

The most important factor is for both the client and the specialist to have a clear understanding of the expected result. Taking into account the client’s skin type, facial features, natural eyebrows, expectations, and other factors, the specialist will assist in selecting the most suitable color and technique for each individual.

Preparation for the Procedure:

•Avoid facial treatments such as exfoliation, deep cleansing, or eyebrow correction/tinting with long-lasting dyes for 7-14 days prior to the procedure.
•Refrain from receiving hyaluronic acid or botulinum injections for at least 30 days before the procedure.
•Do not consume black coffee, tea, vitamin C, or blood-thinning medications on the day of the procedure.
•A few days prior, avoid sun exposure and solarium use.
•If undergoing an eyelid procedure, do not wear contact lenses or have eyelash extensions during the procedure.
Recommended: One week before the procedure, regularly moisturize lips with Vaseline. Perform a gentle lip exfoliation a few days prior to the procedure.

Aftercare and Healing:

•On the first day after the procedure, gently clean the area every 1-2 hours using a damp cloth and boiled water.
•Only use the care products recommended by your specialist. Do not apply any healing ointments unless instructed.
•Avoid sun exposure, tanning beds, saunas, and swimming pools for at least one week.
•Do not pick, rub, or scratch any scabs that form. Refrain from using cosmetic products on the treated area until the healing process is complete and scabs have naturally fallen off.

Following these guidelines will help ensure optimal results from your procedure.

Common Myths About Permanent Makeup

• It cannot be done during the summer
This is one of the most prevalent myths. Permanent makeup can be performed at any time of the year. Regardless of the season, what matters most is adhering to post-procedure care instructions, especially during the first week, until the scabs or light peeling naturally fall off. It is essential to avoid saunas, tanning beds, and prolonged heat exposure, or to shield the treated area with sunglasses, hats, etc. Additionally, applying SPF protection is crucial. Therefore, the timing of the procedure is less important than the consistent care required after it.

• The procedure cannot be done during menstruation
The procedure can safely be performed during menstruation and does not affect the final result. However, sensitivity may be heightened for some individuals during this time, but this varies from person to person and is not a significant concern.

• Permanent makeup is like a tattoo and always looks overly bold
Modern permanent makeup is not permanent in the same way as a traditional tattoo. Gone are the days of harsh, tattoo-like brows. Today’s techniques are designed to subtly enhance natural beauty, offering a soft and natural appearance. The final result will largely depend on the skill and expertise of the chosen specialist.

• Micropigmentation, permanent makeup, and tattooing are different techniques
Clients often misunderstand these terms, but they refer to the same technique. Micropigmentation and permanent makeup are interchangeable with the concept of cosmetic tattooing.

• The procedure is painful
Pain perception varies greatly among individuals. While the sensation may be unfamiliar, it is rarely described as painful. Modern techniques and equipment make the process quite comfortable, with many clients even falling asleep during the procedure.

Removal Procedure

The removal process is similar to the permanent makeup application. The skin is gently treated using a machine, and instead of pigment, a cleansing solution is applied to the upper layer of the skin to facilitate pigment removal.
The duration of the procedure is approximately 25-45 minutes.
This procedure is safe and performed using certified and approved materials.
